Classes in still life are held in the warm and sociable environment of my studio in Terenure, Dublin [See top of blue column at left for an online map]. I’ve worked as an artist and professional illustrator for the past fifteen years. My work has appeared regularly in the Irish Times, the Sunday Tribune and the Wall Street Journal, amongst many other publications and I’ve also won a few awards. I show in galleries in London and Dublin and I’ve been involved in juried shows in the Louvre, Paris and the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin. You can see my work on my other web sites: www.mcsherry.ie and www.irishdailypaintings.com
I’ve a strong grounding in good painting techniques which I believe support my vivid imagination. I also believe that for you, acquiring good technique will allow you to represent not only what you see but also represent your imagination; and strike a balance between ‘technical ability’ and ‘feeling’ – the part that’s you.
I hope that my classes will be an environment where students can have fun, question and gain much more than a new skill. Creativity is our natural tendency and I hope to encourage and inspire it within you.

Welcome to Art Classes Ireland. I  provide the best of alla prima oil painting tuition, clearly and simply imparted to beginner and intermediate painters alike.

Classes in still life are held in the warm and sociable environment of my studio in Terenure, Dublin. Learning to paint is a long but pleasurable process; students are encouraged and nurtured in a fun atmosphere; so don’t be daunted! Read what the Irish Times had to say about Art Classes Ireland. There’s free fresh coffee and tea.

What distinguishes this class from all others is that students will complete a painting at every class. That’s six lessons – six paintings! The canvases are small, but you will learn much of what you need to know by painting at an achievable size, by painting from life and by painting often. Advice is given as it’s needed  -at the appropriate time, ie. when you can apply it directly into your own work. Students will get tuition in: drawing technique, canvas preparation, composition, painting techniques, colour mixing and brushwork. Click here to see place availability.

Unfortunately, we can’t offer vouchers for 6 week cycles but you can secure a place on a 1 day workshop by buying a voucher here or phone 086 247 0737.
